We will meet at CeCe's Wool in Guilderland, New York, on Monday, May 6, 2024 (9:30 am to 4 pm) to learn various stitching techniques used in traditional Japanese Shibori. You will bring these ideas home and work on your stitching before the next two classes. On the second day of class you will fold and bind cloth and pieces of clothing using template and clamping techniques. During the afternoon of Friday, May 31, we will start an indigo vat using pre-reduced indigo. On Saturday, June 1, we will dye our bundles all morning and then open them up for the reveal in the afternoon.
This is a room temperature vat - we will dye only plant-derived fibers, ie. cotton, ramie, linen, rayon, and the only animal fiber - silk. Stephanie will bring bamboo rayon and linen scarves for a minimal cost, and students will bring their own cloth and articles to dye.

Workshop Fee: $250. A deposit of $125 is required to secure your spot in the class.
