This (4-full days) workshop introduces the beginning handweaver to the steps of weaving on a 4-harness loom from start to finish. You will first learn how to read weaving drafts, which are the "sheet music" of handweaving. Choosing from a variety of projects such as a tea towel, table runner or a scarf, you will use your draft to plan your project and calculate how much yarn you will need. You may choose to weave a simple tabby (plain weave) that focuses on texture and the interplay of color in fiber. Or you may choose a twill weave structure that clearly illustrates how patterns are created by the interplay of threading in the harnesses and treadling in different sequences. During these four days you will lay down a solid foundation each step of the way, from the design stage, winding and beaming on your warp, threading the heddles and sleying the reed, to weaving and then finishing your project. No prior experience is required, but textile experience that proves patience is helpful! https://www.ceceswool.com/events-and-classes/
